About The Position

Under the Supervision of the Behavioral Health Outreach Supervisor the Community Mental Health Worker role involves connecting with individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorder, domestic violence and homeless or at risk to become homeless. The primary goal is to provide compassionate support, facilitate access to essential services, and connect clients to appropriate providers and resources. In this role, the Community Mental Health Worker will bring cultural sensitivity, empathy, effective communication skills, and play a crucial role in improving the lives of vulnerable individuals within the Native American community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in clinical or mental health settings.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local resources and services.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to obtain the Community Health Worker certification within one year of employment.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills in building relationships and verbal communication.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of community/tribal members, interdisciplinary staff, and employees of an outside agency.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must maintain a valid, unrestricted California Driver’s license.
  • Must be insurable under SCIHP’s automobile insurance.
  • Must meet insurance requirements regarding driver record to utilize GSA vehicles.
  • CPR Certification

Responsibilities
