About The Position

This Community Manager role oversees 468 units across 4 sites in the Bronx Park area. The primary focus is to own the site’s financial and legal operations, including Accounts Payable/Receivable, delinquency management, and the eviction legal process. The role also involves ensuring proactive, hands-on management of the property, aligning operations with ownership goals, and serving as the Area Director’s primary financial and legal-process partner. Fluency in Spanish/English is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience in Affordable, Project-based Section 8, or LIHTC multifamily housing required
  • Must be fluent in Spanish/English

  • leasing, hospitality, or customer-facing experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with property management software (e.g., Yardi) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day Accounts Payable: accurately code and process vendor invoices, match to purchase orders, resolve discrepancies, and route for approval on schedule.
  • Own day-to-day Accounts Receivable: timely mailing of rental and miscellaneous payments, reconciling resident ledgers, and maintaining audit-ready records.
  • Manage the full delinquency-to-eviction legal process, including lease agreement enforcement: prepare and serve rent demand and default notices, track statutory timelines, and prepare case files for legal filing.
  • Coordinate directly with the Area Director, property counsel, and the courts on eviction case status, hearing dates, and required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate, current records of all active legal cases, ensuring there is no slippage through statutory deadlines.
  • Prepare AP/AR and delinquency reporting for the Area Director, flagging aging balances and at-risk accounts prior to legal escalation.
  • Serve as the Area Director’s primary financial and legal-process partner.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for ownership-related matters, ensuring open, clear, and consistent communication regarding property performance, physical condition, and updates.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships by understanding ownership priorities and aligning day-to-day operations with long-term strategy.
  • Support timely, thoughtful responses to questions, concerns, and ad-hoc information requests.
  • Ensure property operations and on-site execution are aligned with the business plan and strategic objectives.
  • Translate directives into actionable tasks for on-site and central teams, overseeing execution to ensure consistency and accountability.
  • Provide regular updates on business plan initiatives, including leasing velocity, compliance requirements, maintenance programs, preventative care, and capital projects.
  • Maintain regular on-site presence to ensure the asset is well-maintained, operational standards are met, and the community presents appropriately.
  • Conduct routine property walks and inspections to evaluate curb appeal, common areas, resident-facing spaces, and back-of-house operations.
  • Proactively identify operational, physical, or reputational risks and address them before they escalate.
  • Implement a structured escalation process for physical and operational issues, coordinating with the Area Director and other departments as needed.
  • Collect and analyze property, operational, and resident data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Partner with the Business Analytics/Reporting team to deliver insights and recommendations that support asset performance.
  • Provide custom operational reporting as requested — occupancy, leasing activity, maintenance metrics, and resident feedback (AP/AR and delinquency reporting is owned under Financial Operations).
  • Develop and maintain standardized operational processes to ensure consistency and quality on-site.
  • Continuously evaluate service delivery and operational protocols, implementing improvements based on site observations and performance data.
  • Work with Property Operations/Central Office to integrate technology and streamline workflows that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the property adheres to regulatory requirements and company policies through regular site inspections and property audit checklists.
  • Partner with Leasing, Maintenance, and Compliance teams to address risks related to physical condition, safety, regulatory compliance, and operational controls.
