About The Position

The Community Living Society (CLS) is an innovative non-profit organization dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full, productive, and meaningful lives. As a support worker in the Independent Living Program, you will provide support and actively engage individuals to foster independence, optimize their well-being, and help them discover their community, learn new life skills, and find employment. The program focuses on providing the right amount of assistance, which is supportive rather than intrusive, in key areas such as budgeting, bill payment, improving cooking skills, and learning to use public transportation. This role involves supporting individuals with various life goals, performing home support duties (including personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping), accompanying them on community outings (volunteering, employment, leisure), and maintaining records of daily activities and goal progression.

Requirements

Class 7 N or Class 5 driver’s license
Access to a reliable vehicle
First Aid and CPR Certificate
Clear criminal record (paid by CLS)
Clean driver’s abstract

Nice To Haves

Ability to maneuver a wheel chair
Experience high behavioral support
Prior paid or volunteer experience
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
Mandt System®
Knowledge of Person Centered Active Supports

Responsibilities
