About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a Community Life Educator to join their OB/GYN team. This role will provide education to pregnant patients through community classes covering topics such as labor and birthing, lactation/breastfeeding, postpartum health, and giving birth center tours. Classes are offered both in-person at South University and virtually from the Southpointe clinic, with sessions scheduled for evenings and weekends. The educator will present health education and promotion programs, coordinate curriculum and logistics, and contribute to the development of new training programs. This position also involves establishing and maintaining community relationships and partnerships, collecting data, and performing administrative tasks related to training courses.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work effectively with groups and communicate with individuals and groups.
  • Must have experience in adult learning and learning styles, or as appropriate to developmental stage of participant.
  • Experience in teaching and facilitation of groups essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Area of focus in public health, education, healthcare or related field preferred.
  • Certification/licensure as appropriate and/or required by course content.
  • When applicable, may need a valid driver's license. If valid driver's license is required, must maintain a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provides health education through Sanford Health sponsored and coordinated community classes.
  • Knowledge of and use of appropriate age-related protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of identified populations.
  • Coordinates pre-designed curriculum and specific course logistics and objectives pertinent to subject matter.
  • Presents health education and promotion programs, such as training workshops, conferences, one-on-one consultations, and school or community presentations.
  • Provide feedback needed to assist in the development of new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Establishes, strengthens, and maintains community relationships and partnerships based on assigned focus area and expertise.
  • Responsible for data collecting and administrative tasks associated with training courses as required by curriculum, grant funded programs and state regulations when applicable.
