About The Position

The Child and Family Life Educator facilitates the professional role development and growth of child and family life team members along the continuum from novice to expert. This role functions as a change agent, mentor, facilitator of learning, leader, champion of scientific inquiry (application of research, evidence based practice and improvement science), and partner for clinical practice transitions. The educator collaborates with child and family life leadership to coordinate educational initiatives for the department, focusing especially on child life specialists and related roles. They offer support to all child and family life staff and departments supported by the child and family life team. This position works with interdisciplinary teams to help patients and families manage complex psychosocial issues. This position requires experience developing/mentoring/onboarding new team members and knowledge of essential role functions including but not limited to evidence based practices, psychosocial support and pediatric care. The Child and Family Life Educator is required to maintain Child Life Specialist Certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Child Life Science, Child Development, Child Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Recreational Therapy or related degree
  • 3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting including education and program planning
  • CRT-Child Life Specialist (CCLS) - CLCC Child Life Certification Commission required
