About The Position

Our Community Educators collaborate with staff across our Prevention department and Agency to create and implement strategic community education and professional development workshops (trauma informed DV/IPV and TPV) for youth and adults within the City of Philadelphia area. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, field of Human Services or related field, required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years with teaching, instructions, classroom management, training, public speaking or related experience/skills, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, develop and facilitate training sessions or workshops, required.
  • Understanding of DV/IPV or related, trauma informed care and youth/adult learning principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse community, required.
  • Demonstrated proficient computer skills - use of Microsoft Office suite software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and experience with client databases and data collection.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervisor and follow through on assigned projects, and working effectively as a team member, required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in comprehensive communication, required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of time management, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Ability to lift/carry moderate to heavy bags and supplies (about 30 lbs.), required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English), required.
  • Will be required to attend our Virtual Domestic Violence Advocate Paid Training, post hire.
  • Must provide Satisfactory Child Abuse, Criminal and FBI clearances. (Any expenses paid by employer)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with with School District of Philadelphia preferred.
  • Experience working in human services or related organization, preferred.
  • Driver's License & Passing of MVR (motor vehicle report), preferred.
  • Working in an urban setting with underserved communities, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and cultivate partnerships to ensure service delivery and expand the reach out DV/IPV and TDV educational initiatives.
  • Facilitate trainings and programs to schools, community-based organizations and professionals.
  • Assist in the development/enhancement of curricula, as well as related materials and evaluations.
  • Provide support, coordinate partner communication, keep training content updated with the most recent research of DV and trauma.
  • Ensure accurate collection of data.
  • Represent the Agency on committees and in collaborations with other agencies that assist with survivors of DV and TDV, as well as networking and community outreach events.
  • Engage in structured discussions and trainings.
