About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. Join our OB/GYN team providing education to pregnant patients through community classes. Class topics include labor and birthing, lactation/breastfeeding, postpartum health and giving birth center tours. In person classes are taught at South University and virtual classes are taught from the Southpointe clinic. Classes are provided on evenings and weekends. This role provides health education through Sanford Health sponsored and coordinated community classes. Knowledge of and use of appropriate age-related protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of identified populations. Coordinates pre-designed curriculum and specific course logistics and objectives pertinent to subject matter. Presents health education and promotion programs, such as training workshops, conferences, one-on-one consultations, and school or community presentations. Provide feedback needed to assist in the development of new training programs or modify and improve existing programs. The Community Life Educator establishes, strengthens, and maintains community relationships and partnerships based on assigned focus area and expertise. Must be able to work effectively with groups and communicate with individuals and groups. Must have experience in adult learning and learning styles, or as appropriate to developmental stage of participant. Experience in teaching and facilitation of groups essential. Responsible for data collecting and administrative tasks associated with training courses as required by curriculum, grant funded programs and state regulations when applicable.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work effectively with groups and communicate with individuals and groups.
  • Must have experience in adult learning and learning styles, or as appropriate to developmental stage of participant.
  • Experience in teaching and facilitation of groups essential.
  • When applicable, may need a valid driver's license.
  • If valid driver's license is required, must maintain a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Area of focus in public health, education, healthcare or related field preferred.
  • Certification/licensure as appropriate and/or required by course content.
