About The Position

This part-time contractual position with the Allegany County Health Department in Cumberland, Maryland, provides individual in-person and telephone counseling and leads group educational classes for pregnant and breastfeeding women. The position also assists in maintaining a breastfeeding-friendly clinic.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• No experience is required.
• Experience providing assistance to individuals in a health care or social services setting may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
• If assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual in-person counseling for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
• Provide individual telephone counseling for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
• Lead group educational classes for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
• Assist in maintaining a breastfeeding-friendly clinic.

Benefits

• Contractual employees meeting eligibility requirements may qualify for subsidized health and prescription coverage for themselves and eligible dependents; employees pay 25% of premiums and the State subsidizes the remaining 75%.
• Dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance may be elected at the employee's full premium cost.
• Contractual employees may receive leave at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per calendar year.
