About The Position

The main purpose of this part-time contractual position will be to provide comprehensive school nursing services to students and staff of Dorchester County Public Schools. Key duties include but are not limited to: Medication administration, Skilled nursing treatments, Age-appropriate health screenings, Assessment and care of the sick or injured, Health record maintenance, Immunization reviews, Case management of chronic health concerns, Care plan development, and Multidisciplinary team participation.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing.
  • Possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland (if assigned duties requiring vehicle operation).
  • Provide a telephone number at which they can be reached.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and one year of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
  • Candidates may substitute two years of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive school nursing services to students and staff.
  • Administer medications.
  • Perform skilled nursing treatments.
  • Conduct age-appropriate health screenings.
  • Assess and care for the sick or injured.
  • Maintain health records.
  • Review immunization status.
  • Manage chronic health concerns.
  • Develop care plans.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams.
