About The Position

At In Flight, Inc., we empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to reach for their hopes and dreams, and support a meaningful quality of life. Com Hab DSP – join our Team. We’re looking for compassionate and motivated individuals to join our Community Habilitation program. As a Community Habilitation Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will work one-on-one with children and/or adults with developmental disabilities, providing support at home and in the community to help them build independence and life skills. This is a flexible, fun, and rewarding role where you can make a direct impact. One of the great things about the people we support is that they are unique, with the ability to grow, develop, and be empowered. It takes a special person to help provide that opportunity. Just as each individual is unique, so are the staff who support them. If you're ready to make a difference, we’d love to have you on our team! Cases are in Highland and New Paltz. This is a per diem position.

Requirements

• Pass all NYS and OPWDD background clearances
• USE OF YOUR OWN VEHICLE - Mileage reimbursement available
• Valid NYS driver license with proper insurance coverage
• Regularly required to stand, walk
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs

Nice To Haves

• Working with Individuals that have IDD preferred but not required
• An associate degree is preferred
• One year of related experience is preferred
• Working as caregivers or with adults with developmental disabilities
• Be empathetic and have a team approach to care for the individuals
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Be energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor
• Be able to attend mandatory trainings as needed

• Working independently while collaborating with other team members
