About The Position

BuildAbility is seeking passionate individuals to join their team as Community Guides for the Community Integration Program. This role is ideal for those who enjoy assisting others in achieving their goals and prefer working in a community-based setting rather than an office. The program focuses on empowering individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to envision and achieve a life without limitations. Requirements

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, employers, and others in a positive and constructive manner.
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
High school diploma or GED.
Must pass a DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting background clearance.
Proof of a passing physical exam and TB clearance.
Valid Driver’s License, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

Fluent in Spanish.
Cultural awareness and adaptability.
Familiarity with the Los Angeles Metro system (MetroGo app, route planning, etc.).
Crisis management skills.
Prior experience supporting individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Meeting participants at a community hub each morning, and facilitating the scheduled activities for the day, including the use of public transportation.
Providing opportunities for the participants to develop socialization/interpersonal communication skills and practice self-regulation/coping techniques.
Providing hands-on training, observation, and evaluation of the participant's pre-vocational skills, and finding educational opportunities or classes to assist with further development.
Advocating for participants' inclusion in the community and empowering them to exercise their rights.
Using BuildAbility’s digital program to log the individual’s progress and performance.
