About The Position

Legal Services of North Florida has an opening for a Community Engagement Specialist (full-time 35 hours a week). This position is located in our Tallahassee office. This position will support our Gun Violence Project, a dynamic initiative providing a broad range of civil legal services to individuals who have been impacted by gun-related crimes or offenses. The Community Engagement Specialist plays an important role in helping our clients access the support they need beyond legal services. This position works closely with Attorneys, Paralegals, Intake Staff, and community partners to identify clients’ non-legal needs and connect them with local resources and services. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, connecting people with resources, and engaging with the community. The Community Engagement Specialist will help strengthen partnerships with community organizations, coordinate outreach and educational events, support legal clinics, and promote awareness of available legal services.

Requirements

  • Four years of work experience in community resource or coordination or front-line support to vulnerable individuals and/or victims
  • Graduation from an accredited two- or four-year college can be substituted for a max of two years of work experience
  • Experience coordinating community education, outreach, or events in a professional or academic setting
  • Florida Level 2 background screening requirements through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, response teams, and service providers to strengthen resources and referral opportunities for clients.
  • Work with legal and intake staff to identify clients’ non-legal needs and connect them with appropriate community resources.
  • Help identify areas and populations within our service area that may benefit from increased legal assistance.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support community education events, legal clinics, and outreach activities.
  • Develop announcements, educational materials, and other resources to support community events and client outreach.
  • Represent the organization at local trainings, conferences, meetings, and other community events to strengthen partnerships and increase awareness of available services.
  • Coordinate meaningful community education activities focused on legal issues and available resources.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and community partners to ensure outreach efforts effectively reach individuals who may need assistance.
  • Track outreach activities, outcomes, timekeeping, and other information necessary to meet program and grant requirements.
