About The Position

The Community Engagement Specialist will take the lead in cultivating meaningful relationships with local non-profits, chambers of commerce, and the broader community. In this dynamic role, you will leverage your expertise in community relations, event management, and project coordination to enhance the casino's presence and positive impact within the local community and focus on delivering meaningful content while cultivating relationships that drive business strategies, conversation and action.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field preferred
  • +3 years demonstrated work experience in Communications, Public Relations or Community Relations or equivalent field required
  • +3 years hands-on experience in project management, with a proven track record of successful project delivery and coordination
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • In-depth understanding of local non-profits, chambers of commerce, and community dynamics, with the ability to identify and leverage opportunities for collaboration
  • Strong interpersonal skills to connect with diverse community groups, fostering positive and lasting relationships
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery and successful outcomes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google suite, demonstrating the ability to utilize these tools effectively in project management and related task
  • Ability to develop creative and innovative community engagement strategies that align with our values and objectives
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events, outreach activities, and community functions
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport promotional materials, giveaway items, signage, and event supplies up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and setting up event displays, tables, and marketing materials
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions during community events and activations
  • Ability to travel locally to attend community meetings, networking events, sponsorship activations, and outreach opportunities
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to interact professionally with guests, team members, vendors, and community partners for extended periods
  • Ability to use standard office equipment including computers, phones, tablets, printers, and audiovisual equipment
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary certifications and/or licenses as required by local gaming regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with local non-profits, chambers of commerce, and other community stakeholders to promote collaboration and positive engagement.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute community events that align with American Place Casino's commitment to community development. This includes overseeing all aspects of event logistics, from planning to post-event evaluation.
  • Be a liaison to the properties overall Team Member and Community Engagement programs and internal team member communications.
  • Lead in the planning and implementing strategic activities that build community support for the property, including preparation of newsletters and website content, communications support, media relations and the development of other customized materials.
  • Produce strategic communication plans to support internal and external communications.
  • Serve as a representative in the community, fostering open communication, addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive public perception of the casino.
  • Take charge of community-related projects, ensuring seamless execution, meeting project goals, and collaborating effectively with internal and external teams.
