About The Position

This is a full-time American Connection Corps (ACC) AmeriCorps service position with Westport Community Economic Development Corporation. The Member supports implementation of outreach plans for programs including homeownership training, Clean and Green volunteer recruitment, and the community master plan. The role supports resident outreach and maintains program-related records and databases concerning residents, prospective homeowners, local businesses, and housing conditions. This information helps identify community needs, connect residents with resources, and track progress on community priorities. The Member represents the organization at community events and meetings and engages and coordinates with Block Captains. The Member provides community-facing service and supports community-wide outreach and engagement activities under the direction of the Executive Director or designated staff. Service activities must align with the approved AmeriCorps State and National program and member service assignment. The position supplements, rather than duplicates or displaces, the work of paid employees or existing volunteers. The position is part of the American Connection Corps, a Lead For America AmeriCorps program that helps communities build digital connectivity and expand opportunity and economic mobility. Members serve with locally rooted organizations, gain hands-on experience and in-demand skills, and explore career pathways while contributing to their communities. Westport Community Economic Development Corporation works to promote equitable development, waterfront access, cradle-to-college educational opportunities, and improved outcomes for residents, workers, and business owners in Westport, Mt. Winans, and St. Paul neighborhoods. The Member works under staff supervision in a direct-service and capacity-building role. The Member may not independently manage programs, supervise staff or contractors, determine eligibility, lead fundraising or grant writing, or perform duties that duplicate, displace, or supplant employees or contractors. The service term runs from December 7, 2026, through August 13, 2027, for approximately 40 hours per week and 1,200 total service hours.
