About The Position

This is an 8-week Canada Summer Jobs position with three openings. The role involves supporting Hogan's Alley Society's (HAS) community-building, public education, and outreach activities. Responsibilities include coordinating events, assisting with Hogan's Alley Walking Tours, and contributing to communications and outreach efforts. One position will specifically manage HAS's social media, requiring attendance at events to capture content. The internship is designed for youth passionate about community development, social justice, cultural engagement, and event planning, offering hands-on experience, mentorship, skill-building, and networking opportunities.

Requirements

  • Interest in community engagement, social justice, or cultural programming
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take initiative
  • Comfort working in diverse communities
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Availability for occasional evenings or weekends
  • Must be available to complete the full eight-week internship.
  • Enrolled in Post Secondary located within the Lower Mainland
  • Language Required: English

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with social media content creation
  • Event planning or customer service experience
  • Basic research or data entry skills
  • Lived experience as part of the Black community or other racialized communities

Responsibilities

  • Engage with Black community members, partner organizations, and event participants.
  • Maintain and update contact lists and communication tools.
  • Support volunteer engagement during programs.
  • Assist with planning, logistics, and on-site implementation of events and workshops.
  • Prepare materials, coordinate supplies, and help with set-up and take-down.
  • Welcome participants and partners at events.
  • Organize webinars, workshops, and Hogan’s Alley Walking Tours.
  • Create accessible promotional materials and manage registrations.
  • Provide on-site support during tours, ensuring accessibility and participant wayfinding.
  • Collect participant feedback and evaluation data.
  • Summarize findings to inform future programming.
  • Assist with light administrative tasks such as note-taking and record organization.
  • Demonstrate respect, inclusion, and cultural awareness in all interactions.
  • Support an environment grounded in anti-oppression and collaboration.
