About The Position

The Mustard Seed’s Community Engagement team fosters a Christ-centered understanding of poverty and homelessness to transform worldviews and mobilize the community. The team facilitates experiential and educational opportunities for people of all ages to broaden their knowledge of issues surrounding poverty and homelessness. Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator will focus on building relationships with local churches, organizations and partner agencies as well as overseeing the Seed Serve program. Primary duties will be to administrate correspondences with churches & community partners, manage relationships with pastors, oversee community engagement programing and aid in facilitating community education and involvement with Mustard Seed programming and services.

Requirements

  • Has a related degree, in ministry, education or social work
  • Significant experience working with communities affected by poverty and homelessness
  • Proven ability to network and build strategic partnerships
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Excellent administrative, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, public relations, and group facilitation skills
  • Self-motivated and capacity to work independently
  • Competent with Microsoft Office
  • Valid class 5 drivers license
  • Three years of experience in a non-profit, social service or educational organization
  • An Employment Background Check is required for all positions at The Mustard Seed
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence, maintain $2M Vehicle Liability Insurance on the personal vehicle being used, and will need to consent to a driver’s abstract request.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Manager, design and execute a comprehensive church engagement framework that aligns organizational goals with local community needs.
  • Proactively build and sustain strategic partnerships by networking with local churches, businesses, and community stakeholders to foster long-term collaboration.
  • Serve as a primary representative for the organization by coordinating and delivering compelling presentations and speaking engagements to diverse faith-based and community groups.
  • Strengthen community presence by cultivating deep partnerships within the specific neighborhoods where our sites operate, ensuring localized support and visibility.
  • Direct the planning, organization, and facilitation of the Seed Serve Youth Program, ensuring high levels of engagement and impactful service-learning experiences.
  • Facilitate specialized presentations and workshops focused on the complexities of poverty and homelessness for schools, staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Support the Manager in developing and implementing innovative initiatives to increase public understanding of homelessness exits and systemic poverty issues.
  • Manage various administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of community engagement programs and tracking of partnership data.
  • Execute other duties as assigned
