About The Position

Lincoln Center Theater (LCT) seeks a Community Engagement Assistant that will support the planning, administration, and execution of our growing community engagement programs and partnerships. Reporting to the Associate Director of Community Engagement and working closely with the Education and Community Engagement team, the Community Engagement Assistant will help to coordinate events, workshops, discussions, and audience engagement initiatives inspired by LCT's artistic programming and institutional vision. This new position combines programmatic, administrative, and relationship-building responsibilities and is ideal for a highly organized, collaborative professional with demonstrated experience in community-centered work and the performing arts. The Community Engagement Assistant will support both on-site programming at Lincoln Center Theater and activities hosted throughout New York City's diverse communities. This individual will be joining a team that is co-creating joyful and imaginative civic spaces, and that is promoting theater as a source of collective and individual wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Two to four years of professional experience in community engagement in the art and cultural sector.
  • Deep knowledge of and professional experience with New York City's diverse neighborhoods, communities, and cultural organizations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; flexibility, curiosity, and the ability to solve problems creatively.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders, across a wide spectrum of identities and lived/collective experiences.
  • Experience coordinating events, programs, or community-based initiatives.
  • Ability to execute work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite applications, and Asana.
  • Familiarity with managing payroll, invoicing, expense tracking, and administrative operations.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Spanish and/or Mandarin.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and implementation of community engagement programs, workshops, discussions, and audience programs.
  • Provide on-site event support at Lincoln Center Theater and partner locations throughout New York City.
  • Coordinate logistics for programs, including participant registration, venue and materials preparation, ‘day-of’ execution, and post-event evaluation and reporting.
  • Assist with administrating welcoming and inclusive experiences for community partners, program participants, and building guests.
  • Help maintain departmental tracking systems, databases, calendars, and project management tools.
  • Process invoices, track expenditures, and assist with budget monitoring.
  • Support payroll entry for teaching artists and processing payments for facilitators and other program vendors.
  • Coordinate purchasing, inventory, and distribution of program materials and supplies.
  • Help to maintain relationships with cultural, educational, and community-based organizations, serving as a point of contact for scheduling, logistics , and program participation.
  • Represent LCT at community meetings, events, and partner gatherings as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues from Education and Community Engagement, Facilities, Marketing, Development, Artistic, and other departments.
  • Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives, as assigned.
  • Contribute ideas for strengthening community engagement efforts and improving program operations.
