About The Position

The Community Employment Program Specialist position is located at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton, North Carolina, and is part of the WorkSource West Training Facility. The role provides occupational and vocational training to incarcerated individuals with disabilities to prepare them for competitive employment in their communities after release. The position is eligible for a hybrid-teleworking schedule that includes weekly onsite work hours.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a human services or business field from an appropriately accredited institution; or an associate’s degree in a listed human services or business field plus two years of directly related work experience; or a high school diploma/GED plus four years of directly related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid North Carolina driver’s license required to drive state vehicles.

Responsibilities

Evaluate inmate readiness for employment through observation of productivity and work behaviors.
Teach training programs and appropriate work behaviors to incarcerated individuals with disabilities using established curricula.
Manage job setup, workflow, and quality assurance processes.
Document services provided in accordance with each client’s rehabilitation plan and agency policy.
Follow North Carolina Department of Adult Correction policies and procedures while performing duties at Foothills Correctional Institution.
