About The Position

This position provides training, technical assistance, and ongoing support for parents, volunteers and community partners in The Family Tree’s evidence-informed models, with the goal of strengthening family functioning preventing child abuse and neglect. The role focuses on building knowledge and skills in child and youth development, as well as effective behavior management, across Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and surrounding areas. The position actively engages parents to enhance their capacity and confidence in supporting their children. Work hours are flexible and responsive to the needs of the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or related field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Mental Health, Nursing, or Education) preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in behavioral sciences or related field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Mental Health, Human Services, Nursing, or and Education) required, OR
  • Completion of at least 60 credit hours from an accredited four-year college or university in a behavioral science or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Human Services, Social Services or related field.
  • At least one (1) year of direct experience working with children and/or families in group settings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of child development and effective parenting practices
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate group presentations and trainings
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, to meet community needs
  • Reliable transportation required to serve the Baltimore metropolitan area
  • If transportation is by own personal car, you must provide a valid driver’s license and car insurance coverage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to multiple program sites and communities throughout the state of Maryland

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in teaching, training, or facilitating workshops strongly preferred
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish) highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Execute parent education and engagement strategies within assigned communities to support participation and strengthen family outcomes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders and parent leaders through ongoing consultation and collaboration
  • Promote child abuse prevention through outreach, presentations, and community engagement efforts
  • Plan and facilitate workshops that focus on positive parenting and strengthening families·
  • Deliver training sessions in schools and community settings on child development, abuse prevention, and effective parenting practices
  • Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers and student interns
  • Assess family needs and collaborate with parents to develop action plans and connect them with appropriate resources
  • Maintain accurate program documentation, including participant records, assessments, and evaluation tools in the agency database
  • Administer client satisfaction surveys and conduct follow-up activities to evaluate program effectiveness
  • Prepare and submit monthly statistical and program reports in accordance with organizational requirements
