Community Development Student (CSJ)
About The Position
This position provides support in community development initiatives, focusing on enhancing volunteer engagement, client interaction through social purpose enterprise businesses, supporting social media platforms, contributing to food security and wellness programs, and conducting program needs assessments. The role involves significant mentoring, including a detailed orientation, participation in team meetings, frequent interaction with staff, regular check-ins with a mentor, an exit interview, and readily available support. The work is primarily in-person within a hybrid format, with opportunities to work at the main office and off-site locations.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing Post-secondary education in Social Work, Social Services, Health Services/Promotion, Business or equivalent
- Knowledge of MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills
- Demonstrated cultural competence and the ability to support a diverse client population
Nice To Haves
- Any experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges in the community is an asset
- Any experience in a not-for profit environment is an asset
