About The Position

The Village of Glendale Heights Community Development Department is seeking college student applicants for the seasonal position of Intern. This position is expected to begin work in May and continue through the first week in September. The Intern will be responsible for providing support to assist code enforcement with writing violations, office technicians with digiting existing files and planning with research on current issues in our community.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Full-time student.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Internship can be used towards college credit if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist code enforcement in driving through town to enforce the grass, weeds, and waste container section of the code by writing warnings and posting them to properties.
  • Utilize the Village’s Cloudpermit software system to input cases, issue final notices, and schedule follow-up inspections.
  • Work with code enforcement and office technician staff to issue citations for summer court dates.
  • Work with all staff to clean and digitize files into Laserfische software storage.
  • Work with administrative assistant on large file scanning and clean-up of files within the office.
  • Assist Planning and Economic Development Manager with research on zoning and development projects.
