About The Position

The Community Benefits Supervisor provides day-to-day supervision and operational support for Food for Lane County’s team of Community Health Workers (CHWs). This role ensures CHWs have the guidance, tools, and processes needed to effectively connect community members with available benefits and health-related social needs (HRSN) resources. CHWs also conduct outreach and education about social service programs through community events, Food for Lane County programs, and partner agencies such as food pantries and meal sites. The supervisor supports staff in performing key program tasks including benefits eligibility screening, participant follow-up, documentation, invoicing, and distribution of food benefit cards.

Working under the guidance of the Community Health & Engagement Program Manager, the Community Benefits Supervisor coordinates daily team activities, supports staff in navigating complex client interactions, and coordinates the systems used to track services and benefits. This position also helps streamline operational processes across program platforms such as UniteUs and iQpay to ensure timely invoicing, accurate documentation, and efficient service delivery.

The Community Benefits Supervisor reports to the Community Health & Engagement Program Manager.

This role may work remotely, with periodic in-person activities at FFLC offices and community sites in and around Eugene, Oregon.
This position is funded through September 2027. Continuation will depend on community demand and funding availability.
A work-issued laptop computer will be provided.

Community Health Worker certification and/or CHW Supervisor Training certification (or willingness to obtain them) is preferred. FFLC will cover certification costs if needed.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in staff supervision, team leadership, and/or project coordination.
• Strong community engagement skills, knowledge of best practices, and ability to collaborate with CHWs to foster desired engagement and enrollment outcomes.
• High proficiency with complex data platforms, medical billing systems, and/or non-profit CRM tools.
• Demonstrated ability to learn processes and become proficient in new technology platforms quickly.
• Takes initiative to understand systems, solve problems, and find solutions through independent research and communication with supervisor.
• Strong attention to detail with an eye for identifying and solving data discrepancies.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and professional coaching.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and a commitment to maintaining participant confidentiality.
• Reliability in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to changing program needs.
• Strong time-management skills.
• Takes direction well, with excellent follow-through on assigned tasks.
• Ability to work alongside others in a supportive and respectful manner.
• Desire to support Community Health & Engagement programming at FFLC in alignment with the vision of the program manager.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of/familiarity with FFLC structure, partners, and programs.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Experience and confidence using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft applications.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
• Community Health Worker certification (or the willingness to obtain it).
• Community Health Worker Supervisors Training certification (or the willingness to obtain it).
• Knowledge of health-related social needs and their impact on food-insecure populations.
• Understanding of Oregon Health Plan programs.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
• Ability to access meeting sites or other special event sites in Lane County that may not be serviced by public transportation preferred (e.g. use of car).
• Familiarity with UniteUs and iQpay platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Health-Related Social Needs (HRSN) and related healthcare partnership programs, including documentation, invoicing, and benefit distribution.
• Coordinate billing processes for health-related social needs (HRSN) reimbursements and CHW invoicing.
• Identify and resolve rejected or pending invoices within the UniteUs platform.
• Coordinate processes between UniteUs and iQpay to ensure timely delivery of benefit cards to participants.
• Provide technical guidance to CHWs related to program platforms and data entry standards.
• Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and guidance to Community Health Workers.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to review caseloads, address administrative barriers, and support staff well-being.
• Support CHWs in navigating complex client interactions and maintaining effective outreach practices.
• Coordinate staff scheduling and ensure adequate coverage for community outreach events.
• Support the collection and organization of participant surveys and service metrics across projects.
• Maintain accurate records and consolidate program data for reports as requested by the Program Manager.
• Coordinate the outreach calendar and coordinate staffing for community events.
• Co-facilitate quarterly CHW team meetings with the Program Manager.
• Identify operational challenges and recommend process improvements to strengthen program efficiency.
• Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA when handling personal health information.
• Respond to emails, texts, or phone calls within two business days.
• Attend required meetings, including the bi-monthly All Staff meeting.
• Represent Food for Lane County professionally and respectfully in community settings.
• Follow all applicable FFLC policies and procedures.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Community Health & Engagement Program Manager.
• Directly supervises Community Health Workers (CHWs), providing ongoing coaching, performance support, and operational guidance. Responsible for coordinating staff schedules, outreach coverage, and workflow related to CHW and HRSN services.
• Exercises independent judgment in day-to-day supervision, operational problem-solving, and workflow coordination related to program service delivery, documentation, and billing systems. Implements procedures established by the Program Manager and recommends improvements to staffing, workflows, and service delivery systems based on frontline operational insight. Program design, policy, and strategic decisions remain under the authority of the Community Health & Engagement Program Manager.
