About The Position
This role is for a Community Based Support Professional, also known as a F.A.D.E. Associate, in Santa Barbara. The position involves assisting adults with developmental disabilities to participate in the community and increase their accessibility to the workforce through programs like Facilitating Alternative Day Environments (F.A.D.E.) and Community Integration Training Program (C.I.T.P.). The ideal candidate is curious, creative, enjoys engaging with people, and has an interest in sign language.
Requirements
- Someone who is compassionate with a people-oriented mindset
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required)
- Responsible, and can assist in goal progress tracking
- CPR / First Aid certification (Training will be provided if you’re not certified or need to be recertified)
- Someone who loves being a cheerleader
Nice To Haves
- Someone has some ASL experience (Not required but is a huge plus!)
Responsibilities
- Support participants in volunteering & attending events, and exploring their community
- Assist participants with transportation including their mobility aids such as wheel chairs (lifting to transfer participants will may be required)
- Encourage and model independent living skills
- Assist participants meet their goal through person-centered planning
- Encourage participants to be physically active and engage in meaningful fun activities
- Be a dependable positive impact in their day-to-day life
- Assist in building social confidence and skills
