About The Position

Grantmakers In Health (GIH) is seeking a Communications Specialist to join their team. This role involves working with the Communications Director to develop digital and print content, contributing to the execution of GIH's media outreach strategy, and assisting in securing media coverage. The specialist will also partner with the CRM and Website Administrator to update the GIH database and provide communications support at key events like the GIH Annual Conference and Health Policy Exchange.

Requirements

  • At least three years of professional experience coordinating nonprofit, government agency, or foundation communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong editorial and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with Chicago or AP styles.
  • Professional social media management experience, with an understanding of LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Proficiency using social media scheduling platforms like Buffer, Hootsuite, or Sprout Social.
  • Website content creation using a CMS such as WordPress or Drupal.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms, such as Mail Chimp, Constant Contact, or ClickDimensions.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Author and build website content.
  • Edit email newsletters and standalone mailings.
  • Manage GIH's social media channels.
  • Assist in the creation and production of the GIH Bulletin.
  • Develop and maintain GIH media lists.
  • Respond to inquiries from the press.
  • Draft media backgrounders to brief senior staff and GIH experts for interviews.
  • Partner with the CRM and Website Administrator to track changes to constituent and organizational information and update GIH's database.
  • Provide on-the-ground communications coverage of annual conference sessions on digital communication channels.
