We are seeking a dynamic individual to fill a key role in the organization. Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Communications, the Communications Specialist – Internal Communications will contribute to internal corporate projects that support CHEO’s vision of the best life for every child and youth. The Communications Specialist – Internal Communications will develop and execute communications plans to enhance and support hospital operations and employee engagement. This individual is a seasoned communications professional, with proven experience in delivering impactful internal strategies. A creative storyteller and content creator, the Communications Specialist – Internal Communications – is a strong multitasker and innovator to achieve the goals.

Requirements

  • Formal education in communications or related field or equivalent experience (Essential)
  • 3-5 years of experience in the field of internal communications (Essential)
  • Experience writing and executing internal communications plans (Essential)
  • Experience in developing communications products across a variety of channels and formats (Essential)
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills; (Essential)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to set and manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work autonomously (Essential)
  • Deal effectively with internal and external customers (Essential)
  • Criminal Record Check (Level 1) (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingualism (French/English) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develop internal communications strategies and tactics to create awareness and engagement with CHEO’s internal stakeholders;
  • Review or create various communications material for internal audiences, ensuring overarching narrative and brand alignment.
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with internal teams and departments;
  • Deliver compelling storytelling for CHEO’s internal audiences;
  • Leads and supports effective internal communications tools such as intranet and internal platforms, creative internal campaigns and more;
  • Provide communications advice and guidance to leadership and staff as required.
  • Work collaboratively with peers at CHEO Research Institute and CHEO Foundation to collaborate and align on behalf of the CHEO brand for maximum impact and effectiveness.
  • Promote and carry out best practices in communications, with a commitment to continuous improvement across CHEO.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
