About The Position

Disneyland Resort’s Communications team is responsible for shaping and delivering compelling stories that inform, engage, and inspire cast members across the resort. Through strategic storytelling, editorial content, and integrated communication plans, the team brings the cast experience to life by highlighting people, purpose, and impact while supporting operational clarity. We’re looking for a Communications Specialist to join our team - a thoughtful, creative storyteller with a focus on social content who understands the power of authentic voices, thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, and takes pride in telling stories that strengthen cast connection and culture. The Communications Specialist is a project hire/internal assignment of approximately 31 weeks in length. There is no guarantee of permanent placement. The Specialist will report to Manager, Communications.

Requirements

  • 2+ years professional experience
  • Experience supporting social media strategy and content creation, including drafting posts, coordinating assets, and assisting with performance monitoring across multiple platforms.
  • Highly organized with strong administrative and time management skills.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling, presentation, and research skills, with an understanding of how to effectively communicate to different audiences.
  • Ability to manage projects and campaign initiatives with an understanding of overarching goals, objective, and relevant considerations.
  • Well versed in grammar and punctuation (AP Style a plus).
  • Proficiency in basic computer functions necessary to operate in a Mac/MS Office environment and programs such as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of social media platforms/content creation.
  • Trusted to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to execute on multiple projects with competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and execute strategic communication plans that support key business priorities, which may include some or all the following:
  • Assist with the development of social media strategies that support broader communications campaigns and business initiatives.
  • Ideating, planning, and supporting the capture of social-first content across multiple platforms to align with communication goals and channel strategies.
  • Collaborating with cast members, content creators, and internal partners to support authentic, on-brand social storytelling.
  • Creating graphics, taking photos, and/or capturing and editing video for projects/initiatives, including short-form and platform-native social content.
  • Supporting social media engagement efforts, including publishing content, monitoring performance, and identifying opportunities to optimize reach and interaction.
  • Drafting messages, stories, scripts, and other written content.
  • Posting updates to internal/external websites, digital signage, social media, and other digital platforms.
  • Maintain owned channels/platforms, including social media accounts, to ensure alignment with ongoing business priorities, brand standards, and messaging frameworks.
  • Create and manage communication plans in support of small scale/low impact projects and initiatives, including collaborating with partners, identifying goals/objectives, key audiences, and timing, developing the engagement approach and messaging, overseeing asset creation, and securing approvals as needed.
  • Partner with metrics and analytics team to research, monitor, aggregate, and analyze internal/external coverage of current events, public opinion, and social media performance to help inform and shape communication strategies.
