About The Position

The Communications Officer of the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life (Initiative) at Georgetown University plays a pivotal role in securing the future of the Initiative by serving as the lead drafter of its external communications and is responsible for managing and expanding the Initiative’s online audience engagement strategy. This role will be responsible for translating programming events (both past and future) into engaging video stories and tracking metrics across all of our digital platforms. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: Develop a comprehensive digital strategy for the Initiative and track all analytics for all Initiative platforms Responsible for managing all digital channels, including website content, social media platforms, and newsletters Manage external communications with an aim towards driving audience growth Develop the Initiative’s multimedia storytelling capacities, utilizing both archival materials and ongoing programming Curate the Initiative’s media bulletin, which provides a round-up of key news stories and commentaries for major Catholic stakeholders Program management support for the Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives, including drafting, logistics, and scheduling for strategic efforts such as the Fellows program; strategic communications with stakeholders; and other efforts. Lead all external communications related to Initiative dialogues, gatherings, and other programming, including drafting media advisories, corresponding with journalists/media, drafting promotional social media posts and graphics, and attending in-person events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 6-8+ years of demonstrated communications, organizational support, and administrative experience
  • A strong ability to drive multiple projects, meet deadlines, maintain professionalism, and exhibit close attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional project management skills and an ability to follow through
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills and an ability to think critically
  • Experience with interfacing with Catholic leaders, high-level board members, donors, and vendors
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative work environment and experience in non-profit administration
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • A commitment to the core values of the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life
  • Knowledge of the work of the Initiative and a dedication to its mission
  • Comfort working in a faith-based organization and familiarity with Catholic teachings

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education, public policy, non-profit, or Catholic community leadership
