Department: Job Summary: The Communications, Membership, and Events Coordinator supports the mission of the University Museum and Rowan Oak by advancing public engagement, strengthening membership, and supporting and delivering events. This role bridges academic and public audiences through strategic communications, meaningful member and donor experiences, and programs that activate both the museum and the historic property. The coordinator plays a key role in connecting students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community to the museum ad Rowan Oaks’s collections, exhibitions, collections, and programming. Develops and drafts communication content and supports the unit's communication goals.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate to both academic and general audiences
  • Experience managing events and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and email marketing platforms
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a university environment
  • Bachelor's (Required)
  • Relevant experience | 3 Years | Required

  • Interest in or familiarity with art museums and/or historic houses
  • Graphic design and/or digital content creation skills (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)
  • Experience working with students, interns, or volunteers

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, researches, and documents content sources according to established policies and procedures.
  • Receives and responds to moderately complex inquiries and individuals and groups according to established policies and procedures.
  • Plans editorial content according to established goals and objects.
  • Communicates with stakeholders to verify requests and identifying editorial resources.
  • Authors and edits a range of documents for use by internal and external audiences.
  • Consults with internal and external stakeholders on editorial matters to ensure accuracy.
  • Assists in creating and implementing communication campaigns that align with work unit or program strategies.
  • Develops and implements communications strategies that promote exhibitions, academic and education programs, collections-based research, and events
  • Creates and manages content for email campaigns, website, social media, and print materials
  • Collaborates with university communications and marketing offices to align messaging and expand reach
  • Drafts press releases and coordinates media outreach for exhibitions, programs, and institutional milestones
  • Ensures consistency in brand identity across platforms
  • Tracks and analyzes engagement metrics to inform strategy
  • Trains, assigns tasks, and provides guidance to museum interns, undergraduate and graduate student workers
  • Administers and grows the museum’s membership initiatives for community members, alumni, and faculty/staff
  • Manages member program and communications, including benefits and exclusive access to events and programs
  • Maintains accurate records in the museum and university databases
  • Develops strategies to increase member engagement, retention, and participation
  • Collaborates with university development and alumni relations teams where appropriate
  • Plans and executes a range of events, including exhibition openings, student-focused programs, donor and member events
  • Coordinate logistics for events held in both museum galleries and the Rowan Oak, ensuring appropriate care of collections and spaces
  • Serves as the institutional liaison with Friends of the Museum auxiliary board to plan fundraising events to support museum and Rowan Oak initiatives
  • Manage event promotion in collaboration with communications efforts
  • Oversee event registration, staffing, and on-site execution
  • Evaluate events and track attendance and engagement
