About The Position

Texas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is seeking a Communications Manager to position and elevate the organization as a leader in the child welfare community through internal and external communication. The Manager will develop internal and external print and digital materials, lead social media efforts, and offer design support for various audiences, including the statewide CASA network, community partners and stakeholders, Texas CASA staff, and the broader public. The Manager will also manage media engagement. This role works in partnership with the Communications Director, who provides strategic direction and oversight, to execute Texas CASA’s communications strategy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years communications experience.
  • Must pass background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the child welfare system and CASA model, including emerging systemic changes.
  • Experience in nonprofit, education, government affairs, or child welfare environments.
  • Demonstrated graphic design skills with proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Airtable and Asana a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Muck Rack preferred.
  • Photography and videography experience preferred.
  • Podcast experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit content for internal and external communication materials (e.g. newsletters, social media posts, media pitches, op-eds, press releases, website content, and talking points).
  • Ensure all content is accurate and reflects organizational voice, brand standards, and messaging priorities.
  • Partner with Communications Director and Chief External Relations Officer on development of annual communications strategy.
  • Develop an annual content calendar in partnership with all Texas CASA’s departments and ensure unified, informed, and timely messaging.
  • Manage Texas CASA email marketing platform, including newsletter development, list management, and campaign execution.
  • Adapt tone and format of content for different audiences.
  • Coordinate with local CASA programs to develop story ideas that exemplify the statewide CASA network.
  • Lead social media strategy, including content calendar development.
  • Manage day-to-day social media presence, including scheduling, posting, and community engagement.
  • Design graphics for social media and Texas CASA materials, coordinating with external vendors as needed.
  • Collaborate with the External Relations Division and other departments in the production of Texas CASA collateral materials, both in house and through contractors.
  • Track and report on social media and email marketing performance.
  • Manage media engagement, including responding to inquiries and maintaining press contacts.
  • Provide as-needed support to local programs when media inquiries arise.
  • Draft and distribute press releases.
  • Monitor CASA and child welfare landscapes and news for general awareness and crisis prevention.
  • Maintain digital image library of photo and video assets.
  • Support photography and videography for use across communications channels, as needed for monthly and quarterly events.
  • Support production of Texas CASA’s monthly podcast, CASA on The Go.
  • Offer communications support and subject matter expertise to Texas CASA staff and local CASA programs.
  • Manage Communications Intern.
  • Analyze current communications processes and make recommendations to improve efficiencies and quality of services.
  • Perform all other duties and complete special projects as assigned by the CEO, Chief External Relations Officer, and Communications Director.
