About The Position

We are seeking a strategic and proactive Senior Communications Manager—reporting to the Group Manager, Communications—to help drive the company’s external and internal communications efforts. This role will be instrumental in building and protecting Care.com’s reputation, highlighting our mission-driven impact, and amplifying thought leadership from company executives. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller, exceptional writer, media-savvy, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, consumer-driven technology environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related roles—ideally with a consumer-facing brand or tech company.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with an ability to tailor messages to different audiences and channels.
  • Strong understanding of media relations, with a proven track record of securing coverage in top-tier outlets.
  • Experience with digital platforms and content publishing tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.
  • Comfortable working with executive leadership and handling confidential information.
  • Experience with generative AI tools (e.g. LLMs) to augment communications tasks, drive efficiencies, and scale content creation.
  • Mission-driven mindset and interest in family care, social impact, or the future of work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic communications initiatives that align with Care.com’s business goals and brand narrative.
  • Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media pitches, blog content, bylines, FAQs, and executive talking points — optimizing them for consumption by both humans and LLMs.
  • Support media relations efforts by identifying opportunities, maintaining journalist relationships, and coordinating interviews and press briefings.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across marketing, HR, product, and legal to develop cohesive communication plans.
  • Partner with the People Experiences team to enhance internal communications and employer branding strategies.
  • Help manage executive visibility, including speaking engagements, conference participation, and award submissions.
  • Monitor media coverage and trends relevant to caregiving, family support, workforce dynamics, and consumer tech.
  • Track, analyze, and report communications performance metrics using industry tools (e.g., Muck Rack).
  • Support crisis communications and issue management as needed, maintaining poise under pressure.
