About The Position

The position of our Communications Administrative Intern is a unique opportunity for high school students interested in a career in communications, media, or journalism. Over the course of our intern program, student interns will work directly with the North Kansas City Schools Communications Department under the supervision of professional staff. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership.

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Seeking valuable work experience in support of the school district, students, employees, and community.
  • Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

  • Responsible, diligent, and conscientious, with good communication skills, a strong commitment to professional growth, and an interest in communications.

Responsibilities

  • Writing for print and digital media such as websites, newsletters, social media, etc.
  • Photography and other visual production such as graphic design.
  • Video production or other audio-visual work.
  • Assists in event planning and marketing.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Comply with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Student interns will be required to take an online virtual/Canvas course (eCareer Connections) that will guide the internship learning experience for all students (i.e., How to complete a resume, internship reflections, etc.).
