About The Position
The Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) Communications team employs a strategic approach to highlight the region's economic strength, talent pipeline, and vibrant communities. They amplify the efforts of MAC investors and partners by sharing the narrative of metro Atlanta's growth and innovation. MAC is seeking a communications intern to assist in promoting the region's business ecosystem across the 29-county metropolitan statistical area. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in strategic communications while contributing to impactful work that influences businesses, communities, and economic development in metro Atlanta.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or status as a rising senior in journalism, public relations, or communications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of or experience with AP style, with the ability to write in different formats
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Strong research, writing, and interviewing skills to produce authentic, creative, and high-quality content
- Professional and positive attitude, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset
- Strong project and time management skills
Responsibilities
- Monitor news, compile coverage, and share summaries
- Track specific topics and create insightful reports
- Gather news and produce a weekly internal newsletter
- Support public relations and media outreach by drafting press releases, newsroom posts, letters, and recaps
- Draft captions for social media and update website copy
- Contribute to C-level briefing documents
- Edit internal documents and newsletters for other MAC teams
- Lead a self-directed, longer-term intern project
