About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life for community residents. This position is a partnership with the American Red Cross, whose mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing volunteers. The student worker's schedule depends on the American Red Cross's operational needs, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and potential for summer work. This role is approved as Community Service (FWS-CSLP), offering services to non-GCU community members. Applicants must complete the FAFSA to be reviewed for Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligibility.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Feel comfortable appearing on camera when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Film and edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Assist in producing longer-form video content for YouTube and other digital platforms.
  • Brainstorm creative, trend-driven content ideas that educate, inspire, and engage audiences.
  • Attend Red Cross events, blood drives, volunteer activities, and community outreach events to capture photo and video content.
  • Conduct on-camera interviews with volunteers, donors, staff, and community members.
  • Assist with photography and content collection for social media and marketing campaigns.
  • Participate in content planning meetings and contribute fresh ideas for digital storytelling.
  • Support social media campaigns by identifying current trends and adapting them to align with the Red Cross brand and mission.
  • Organize and manage digital photo and video assets.
  • Represent the American Red Cross with professionalism, compassion, and respect while interacting with volunteers, donors, clients, and community partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.
