About The Position

The communications coordinator works with the College of Engineering communications team, leadership, faculty, staff and other key stakeholders to support the strategic efforts of the college by assisting in the development, coordination, and dissemination of digital communications. The position updates online content on various platforms to improve clarity and completeness of content, navigation, accessibility, and file management. The role involves creating a wide range of content including website updates, PAWS channels, digital advertising, and social media to engage internal and external audiences. This position operates within a dynamic, progressive, and fast-paced environment. As a result, the success of this position depends heavily on the incumbent’s ability to manage multiple, often competing deadlines.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field
  • One to three years of experience in digital communications and marketing
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems
  • Proven knowledge of marketing and communications best practices and ethics
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Cultural awareness and professionalism in all communications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and communications software tools, such as Cascade and Canva.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity or certification in Google Analytics is an asset.
  • Prior experience in a post-secondary environment considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains an understanding of the College of Engineering’s strategic direction, audiences, and goals of digital content including websites and internal communications channels
  • Ensures appropriate stakeholders are consulted to contribute to the development and execution of digital communications plans aligned with the colleges strategic priorities
  • Drafts, edits, and distributes digital content such as regular website updates, news stories, social media content, and internal communications
  • Develop information architecture of both internal and external websites and applications with a focus on findability, discoverability, accessibility, usability and sustainability
  • Consults with the College of Engineering communications team to prepare and implement a plan with prioritized timelines identifying website sections to be created, redeveloped, or eliminated, then guides the development and creation of updated website content alongside the identified stakeholders
  • Coordinates with the College of Engineering communications team and appropriate stakeholders to migrate and update content for internal communications channels
  • Adheres to USask branding, style and web guidelines in all communications
  • Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to a positive and productive work environment
  • Undertakes related duties, as assigned, consistent with the nature of the position
