About The Position

Scientific Adventures for Girls (SAfG) is seeking a creative, detail-driven Communications Coordinator to help tell their story to the world. This role involves transforming classroom moments into engaging social media content, crafting compelling donor newsletters, and pitching stories to the press. The position is part-time, hourly, and non-exempt, reporting directly to the Director of Development and Communications. It plays a central part in the organization's communications and marketing efforts, requiring 15-20 hours per week, with a hybrid schedule involving 3 days in the office per week. Occasional local travel is also required.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or PR.
  • A sharp eye for visual storytelling (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).
  • Comfort with social platforms, email marketing tools (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.), and a CRM or database.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Organizational skills to juggle multiple projects.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional local travel.

  • Nonprofit experience.
  • Spanish (or other multilingual) skills.
  • A soft spot for STEM/youth programming.

Responsibilities

  • Create and publish content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms, using agency strategy.
  • Design and format newsletters and email campaigns for donors, families, and volunteers.
  • Attend programs and events to gather photos, videos, and stories.
  • Update website content, program information, and event listings.
  • Submit and track press releases sent to news outlets and reporters.
  • Design flyers, invitations, and promotional materials for events.
  • Provide live coverage at events on-site.
