About The Position

The Communications Coordinator operates a multiple call telephone switchboard console and routes calls to the appropriate person or location. They greet visitors and ensure they are escorted to the proper office. This role requires weekend availability and optimal availability for all shifts.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • 1-2 years experience with telephone communications/PBX Switchboard
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands.
  • Ability to handle multiple interruptions.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and directs visitors and applicants. Issues and collects vendors and students identification passes and badges.
  • Routes all incoming calls. Operates public address system, autocall or other systems of communication to call employees to the telephone.
  • Dispatches security personnel to investigate alarms. Provides a communication link between radio equipped security personnel in the field and outside authorities/key personnel contacted during emergencies.
  • Monitors alarm centers and responds in accordance with policy for various alarm conditions. Dispatches security personnel as required.
  • Issues keys for various locations and for hospital vehicles, maintains key log and follows outlined procedures.
  • Communicates effectively and tactfully with residents/patients recognizing their age, needs, abilities and physical condition.
  • Attends meetings as required. Participates in mandatory in-service programs.
  • Responsible for monitoring video surveillance system.
  • Performs other duties as required.
