About The Position

The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) is an innovative, independent non-profit health care research organization dedicated to improving the application of evidence throughout the health care system. ICER produces influential public reports evaluating the clinical effectiveness and value of new treatments, tests, and delivery system interventions. These reports have strongly influenced insurance coverage policies and clinical guidelines while gaining prominence within the national debate over the cost of health care. ICER is seeking a skilled and motivated Communications Coordinator to join our team. The Communications Coordinator will report to the Director of Communications and Digital Strategy and will also work closely with ICER’s patient engagement and program management teams. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with a passion for health care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • The highest levels of personal initiative and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and with a cross-functional team
  • Highly organized and flexible with experience supporting multiple projects
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting or beating deadlines
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as content management systems (e.g., WordPress)

Nice To Haves

  • Public health, communications, business, or public policy degree a plus
  • Experience or interest in learning graphic design and/or coding
  • Experience working in Canva, InDesign a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop draft press releases and issue finalized releases
  • Manage and enhance ICER's presence on several social media platforms, including Twitter (also known as X), LinkedIn, Instagram and BlueSky
  • Track ICER media mentions and assist in developing corresponding weekly, monthly, and annual reporting
  • Assist in creating and sending ICER’s internal and external newsletters
  • Maintain and update ICER’s website and other ICER-affiliated websites
  • Collaborate with external vendors to maintain and update the ICER WordPress website, ICER’s search engine optimization (SEO) strategy, Google ads, and Google Analytics
  • Track all external speaking events for ICER representatives
  • Assist in developing memos for ICER speakers participating in external speaking events
  • Ensure all communication materials adhere to brand guidelines
  • Design and format all ICER publications (ICER reports, report summaries, white papers, public meeting materials) to be clear, consistent, and in line with organizational standards
  • Work with reference management software to ensure all sources are properly cited
  • Oversee and update ICER’s templates (Word templates for various publications, PowerPoint templates for presentations and meetings)
  • Oversee and update the ICER Style Guide for writing, editing, and formatting
  • Collaborate with the head of ICER’s patient engagement team to draft patient-friendly communications materials
  • Support the development of patient engagement guides and materials
