About The Position

Individual performs a wide variety of tasks including, but not limited to, assisting with the testing, maintenance, and operation of protection and control equipment including IED’s (Intelligent Electronic Devices), electromechanical and solid-state protective relaying, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) equipment, Eversource NH telecommunication equipment (including fiber optics, two-way radio, and microwave), pole-top Distribution Automation equipment (NOVA, Viper, & Scadamate, reclosers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) communication systems, and switchboard devices. Work will be performed under direct and limited supervision. Tasks include, but are not limited to, the installation, testing, and repair of protective relays, SCADA systems, and telecommunication equipment. This position requires the ability to perform math functions, have a working knowledge of personal computers, interpret electrical/electronic drawings, and comprehend manufacturer technical instruction manuals. The position also requires the ability to follow instruction, have good communication skills (oral and written), and work under limited supervision (when required). In addition, individual will perform work associated with preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic circuits, operate test equipment, utilize hand / power tools, and work from elevated positions (ladders) or within confined spaces. Position requires travel throughout the Eversource territory. Individual storm assignments will include, but are not limited to, damage assessment and service restoration. This position is one step in a multi-step progression program.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree in electrical technology, electrical power system technology, electrical control systems, telecommunication technology, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, or electronics
  • Ability to perform math functions
  • Working knowledge of personal computers
  • Ability to interpret electrical/electronic drawings
  • Ability to comprehend manufacturer technical instruction manuals
  • Ability to follow instruction
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to work under limited supervision
  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license
  • SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE EEI TECHNICIAN’S APPTITUDE TEST IS REQUIRED
  • Must become a member of the union

Benefits

  • Starting Rate of Pay: $41.84 per hour
