About The Position

This position involves a wide variety of tasks related to the testing, maintenance, and operation of protection and control equipment. The role includes working with Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), protective relays, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), telecommunication equipment (fiber optics, two-way radio, microwave), Distribution Automation equipment, SCADA communication systems, and switchboard devices. Tasks involve installation, testing, and repair of these systems. The position requires the ability to perform mathematical functions, understand electrical/electronic drawings, comprehend technical manuals, follow instructions, communicate effectively, and work under limited supervision. Additionally, the role includes preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic circuits, operating test equipment, using hand/power tools, and working in elevated or confined spaces. Travel throughout the Eversource territory is required, and overtime, including storm assignments for damage assessment and service restoration, may be necessary. This role is part of a multi-step progression program.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree in electrical technology, electrical power system technology, electrical control systems, telecommunication technology, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, or electronics.
  • Possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Successful completion of the EEI Technician’s Aptitude Test.
  • Ability to perform math functions.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Ability to interpret electrical/electronic drawings.
  • Ability to comprehend manufacturer technical instruction manuals.
  • Ability to follow instruction.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work under limited supervision (when required).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the testing, maintenance, and operation of protection and control equipment including IED’s, electromechanical and solid-state protective relaying, PLC equipment, Eversource NH telecommunication equipment (including fiber optics, two-way radio, and microwave), pole-top Distribution Automation equipment (NOVA, Viper, & Scadamate, reclosers), SCADA communication systems, and switchboard devices.
  • Installation, testing, and repair of protective relays, SCADA systems, and telecommunication equipment.
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic circuits.
  • Operating test equipment.
  • Utilizing hand/power tools.
  • Working from elevated positions (ladders) or within confined spaces.
  • Traveling throughout the Eversource territory.
  • Working a reasonable amount of overtime when offered.
  • Performing individual storm assignments, including damage assessment and service restoration.
  • Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs.
