About The Position

The Communications Associate will assist the LA Kings’ Hockey Communications Staff with game-day duties, including press setup, credentialing, postgame notes and other media servicing duties as assigned. The role involves assisting with game day duties in preparation for members of the media, scouts, league personnel and team staff, including setting up the Bob Miller Press Box and Chick Hearn Press Room, printing materials for in-game use, seating chart distribution, and interview support. Associates will also assist in compiling in-game and postgame notes using various statistical resources and will learn the process of writing stat-based hockey information, player section notes, and game notes. A key responsibility is ensuring the media credential window is open and credentials are distributed correctly. Post-game, associates will help set up interviews and gather audio from dressing rooms. Candidates may interact with players, executives, visiting team personnel, league officials, and media, and are expected to act professionally. The role requires availability for approximately two out of every three home games, with 15-20 hours of game-day time per week, depending on the schedule. Other duties may be assigned, with potential for in-office hours and projects.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines.
  • High degree of organizational skills.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalency.
  • A minimum of 0-1 years of related professional work or internship experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Communications Department with game day duties in preparation for members of the media, scouts, league personnel and team staff.

  • Distribute seating charts.
  • Provide interview support.
  • Compile in-game and postgame notes using statistical resources.
  • Learn and master the process of writing stat-based hockey information, player section notes, and game notes.
  • Ensure the media credential window is open 2.5 hours prior to puck drop and distribute all credentials to appropriate personnel.
  • Help set up all post-game interviews.
  • Gather audio from home and visiting dressing rooms for distribution to media and posting on the team’s media-only website.
  • Act in a professional manner at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, with potential for in-office hours and projects.
