About The Position

The Communications Assistant is responsible for providing support for external communication needs and the communications teams administrative tasks at Fountain House. The ideal candidate for this position loves to keep the trains running on time and being part of a team. You are detail-oriented and scrupulously organized, an excellent writer, passionate about social justice and recognizing how systems impact mental health. You will work collaboratively to support and strengthen the external communications efforts at Fountain House. You will gain experience within all aspects of communications and be responsible for supporting a variety of administrative, editorial, media monitoring and web-related tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a major in English, Journalism, Communications or related field, or combination of prior work experience and internships in similar positions required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and familiarity with project management platforms like Asana.
  • Experience working Adobe CS, Canva and email marketing tools (Campaign Monitor, Mailchimp etc.

Responsibilities

  • Updating websites and coordinating periodic internal reviews to ensure accuracy, relevance and message continuity.
  • Managing SWAG inventory, supply ordering and tracking, meeting and tour scheduling.
  • Updating our online presence, digital, website, press and social media
  • Capturing Fountain House content for social media purposes, and work alongside the Director of Communications and Marketing to publish
  • Provide support and help plan events coordinated by the Communications team
  • Support press and media monitoring efforts and research
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as monitoring the Communications email inbox and responding to enquiries
  • Assistance with miscellaneous tasks related to the success of Communications projects
