About The Position

The McGill Global Health Programs office offers short courses each summer on a variety of global health topics. The program, called the McGill Summer Institutes in Global Health, is seeking three (3) students to help execute the courses this summer. The position will require you to work onsite at the School of Population and Global Health and possibly at other downtown campus buildings. Students hired for this position would work up to 30 hours per week, with schedules of approximately 25–30 hours per week during the four weeks of the Summer Institutes (May 25–June 19). The position will end June 30th, one week after the Summer Institutes with reduced hours to assist with wrap up of the program and reports. Helping with the Summer Institutes is a great way for students interested in global health to learn a new subject and to meet the faculty and speakers working in global health!

Requirements

  • Current McGill student approved for Work-Study
  • Dependability, arriving on time and responding to all emails in a timely manner
  • Excellent, professional in-person and email communication
  • Proven ability to have great attention to detail in an event setting
  • Comfort with all features of Zoom including recording and managing host privileges.
  • Previous experience with events (of any size)
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.
  • English communication both verbally and in writing at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
  • High School Diploma
  • 1 Year Related Experience

Responsibilities

  • Communicating instructions to all lecturers in your assigned course.
  • Collecting materials from each lecturer (e.g. PowerPoint slides, readings) and uploading them into the course platform.
  • Assisting and managing online sessions (Zoom) to help the lecturers with any technical issues in their respective courses.
  • Emailing general announcements to the class via the online system.
  • Staffing in-person courses including setting up registration and receiving and setting-up catered lunch and snacks.
  • Staying in communication with Summer Institutes manager on all aspects of your assigned course.
  • Assist with sending and post evaluation surveys
  • Help with other office tasks as required.
