About The Position

The Communications and Development Coordinator supports the mission, vision, and values of EightCAP, Inc, and plays a key role in helping EightCAP tell its story and understand its impact. This position is responsible for supporting both internal and external communications efforts and analyzing data across agency systems to help identify needs, demonstrate outcomes, and guide development activities. The Coordinator will work closely with the Communications and Development Director to maintain consistent messaging, design content, and support agency-wide communication strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a communications or public relations role.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate insights clearly and concisely.
  • Satisfactory review of Criminal History Check, Central Registry Clearance (DHHS), and fingerprinting.
  • The employee must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, and have access to reliable transportation or the ability to travel between agency locations and community sites as needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move about for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, cameras, mobile devices, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through virtual meeting platforms.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds, including event supplies, promotional materials, displays, and office equipment.
  • Ability to travel to various agency and community locations.
  • Visual ability to read printed materials, computer screens, and analyze data and reports.
  • Ability to perform occasional photography and event support activities requiring standing, walking, and movement throughout event spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Graphic design or video editing skills are a plus (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or human services sectors is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and manage engaging content for the agency’s website, social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and other publications.
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Craft compelling stories that highlight the agency’s impact and the voices of those it serves.
  • Write press releases, media advisories, and feature articles to promote agency initiatives and events.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local media, stakeholders, and partner organizations.
  • Coordinate internal messaging to keep staff informed, engaged, and aligned with the agency's goals.
  • Support the development of staff updates, executive messaging, and internal campaigns.
  • Will act as a backup board liaison and attend board meetings when requested.
  • Uphold the agency’s brand guidelines and ensure consistency across all communications.
  • Monitor public perception and ensure communications reflect the agency’s values and mission.
  • Collaborate with designers, vendors, and internal teams to produce branded materials.
  • Assist in promoting agency events, advocacy efforts, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Develop promotional materials and ensure cohesive messaging before, during, and after events.
  • Provide communications support on-site when needed (e.g., social media coverage, photography).
  • Support the preparation of grant applications and reports by pulling relevant data and success stories.
  • Help track and organize information related to community partnerships and potential funding sources.
  • Assist with outreach materials and events that raise awareness and demonstrate impact.
  • Work with data systems such as HMIS, empowOR, ChildPlus, and Salesforce to generate reports and identify trends.
  • Assist with community-level data gathering (e.g., Census, needs assessments) to inform strategic messaging and outreach.
  • Organize and interpret program data to help tell impact stories and inform external messaging and reports.
  • Will work on and be assigned special projects in support of the organization mission.
