About The Position

The Communications Advisor plays a pivotal role in bringing the new Werribee Mercy Hospital Emergency Department to life. Working closely with Operational and Group Communications teams, the role delivers engaging, accurate and timely communications that support staff readiness and pride during commissioning and opening, clearly explain new ED features, models of care and patient pathways, build understanding, trust and confidence within the local community and with priority stakeholders, reflect and respect the multicultural communities served by Werribee Mercy Hospital, and support other areas of the business from time to time as required. This is a fast-paced role requiring strong judgment, proactive thinking, and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities in a dynamic environment. The key focus of the role is humanising and explaining the Emergency Department experience, translating complex clinical and operational information into clear, accessible content using simple language including preparing briefs for developing visual content, proactively identifying communication opportunities and risks, supporting change, transition and growth in a high-pressure healthcare setting, and serving a diverse and complex community in Australia’s fastest growing growth corridor.

Requirements

  • High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills, including with senior leaders and external government agencies
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing competing deadlines
  • Highly proactive, solutions focused and comfortable working with minimal direction
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a broader team
  • Strong alignment with the mission and values of Mercy Health
  • Advanced writing skills across multiple formats, including storytelling, explanatory content and operational messaging
  • Stakeholder relations experience and engagement with local community groups preferred
  • Event coordination with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated project management and organisation skills
  • Strong understanding of risk identification and issues escalation
  • Digital literacy, including internal platforms, websites and social media
  • Cultural awareness and inclusive communication practice
  • Provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining: A current Police Record Check
