About The Position

The Communications adjunct works under the supervision of the Academic Dean and is responsible for meeting all scheduled classes and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of CEC, the community college, and the approved course syllabus. The position involves developing and administering Communications education curriculum, developing lesson plans and instructional materials, designing learning activities, and conducting ongoing assessment of student learning. The adjunct will promote a safe and conducive classroom environment, maintain accurate records in Infinite Campus, and ensure student conduct conforms with CEC policies. Collaboration with other staff and participation in professional development are also expected.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in a field directly related to the area of instruction, or a masters degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the subject area of instruction.
  • Approval by the community college partner prior to start.
  • Successful background check and references.
  • Verification of legal right to be employed in the United States within 72 hours of employment.

  • Prior teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meeting all scheduled classes and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of CEC, the community college, and the approved course syllabus.
  • Developing and administering Communications education curriculum consistent with community college objectives.
  • Developing lesson plans and instructional materials to enhance learning.
  • Designing learning activities to demonstrate the application of course work to everyday life.
  • Conducting ongoing assessment of student learning and modifying instructional methods accordingly.
  • Promoting a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Organizing and maintaining Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate and complete recordkeeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and daily attendance as required in CEC policies.
  • Ensuring that student conduct conforms with CECs Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies.
  • Collaborating with other CEC staff members and participating in staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Academic Dean.
  • Other duties as assigned.
