About The Position

Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. We also offer certificate programs that can generally be completed in one year. Onondaga is a diverse educational learning community. Requirements

Master's degree (or higher) in Communication Studies or a related field (i.e. Public Relations, Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, Telecommunications, Media Communications, Marketing & Data Analytics, Social Media Studies, Rhetorical Studies) from a regionally accredited college, university or foreign equivalency.
Ability to encourage student success.

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching at the community college level.
Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.

Responsibilities

Instruct courses in Communication Studies.
Utilize the learning management system (D2L | Brightspace).
Engage students in meeting the course learning outcomes.
Teach Introduction to Communication (COM 100), Public Speaking (COM 210), Interpersonal Communication (COM 220), and Intercultural Communication (COM 282).
Potentially teach Introduction to Social Media (COM 110) and Introduction to Public Relations (COM 233) if the candidate has relevant experience.
Teach classes, often in the middle of the day, face-to-face on the Syracuse campus.
