The Communication and Foundations of Learning (CFL) Teacher will serve as the Teacher of Record for students with disabilities. This role involves performing annual case reviews, maintaining communication with parents and general education teachers, and making program recommendations based on individual student needs. The teacher will create a classroom environment conducive to educational progress for students with disabilities, working with them according to their Individual Education Plan (IEP) services. Instruction will be provided one-on-one and in groups, both in the special education resource setting and general education classrooms. The teacher will also implement clear and consistent behavior strategies, assist students with emotional disabilities in reaching their behavior goals, and provide instructional assistants with necessary materials and resources. Collaboration with building principals and deans is expected to ensure appropriate structure and consequences for students exhibiting inappropriate behavior, including the implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Plans.
