About The Position

Facilities Management is entrusted with the development, care, maintenance, and operation of Colorado State University’s physical properties. Our purpose is to create and sustain environments that support CSU’s land-grant mission, fostering the success of students, faculty, and staff through world-class academic, research, and outreach programs. The Commodity Buyer will be responsible for purchasing supplies and managing assigned commodities and services and assisting customers with inventory and service requests in Aim. Assigned commodities and services can include but will not be limited to, Carpentry, Custodial, Electrical, HVAC, Office and Plumbing Supplies and services, Hardware, Lighting. Responsibilities will include order placement, inventory management, Supplier Selection and Management and Environmental Stewardship (Sustainability). The Commodity Buyer will also be responsible for analyzing their assigned commodities and identifying opportunities to streamline and reduce cost.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of experience working within supply chain management services or logistics of which may include purchasing services, inventory management, and vendor relations.
  • A combination of related education and/or experience working within supply chain management services or logistics of which may include purchasing services, inventory management, and vendor relations equal to three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft word, excel, and powerpoint
  • Experience processing purchase orders and managing a credit card (Pcard)
  • Working knowledge of automated inventory management
  • Excellent customer-service and interpersonal communication skills in a highly fluid environment (high flexibility)
  • Experience with ERP or Inventory management
  • Directly related state service experience

Responsibilities

  • Review backorders daily and follows up on orders.
  • Utilizes knowledge of vendors and their offerings to make vendor recommendations.
  • Ensures that State or CSU awarded sources are used and that there are secondary sources for critical commodities.
  • Understands and utilizes ABC analysis to determine stocking levels to minimize stock-outs and excess inventory.
  • Identifies opportunities to support Colorado State University sustainability initiatives through purchasing green or energy efficient products and services.
