About The Position

The Commodity Buyer will be responsible for developing a qualified low-cost supply base to support current and anticipated automotive program sourcing requirements. This role involves developing rationale and providing support for supplier selection, participating in or leading strategy development, cost savings efforts, minority business strategy, and associated reporting. The Commodity Buyer will also support the Launch team through Supplier Selection, Statement of Work Negotiation, and Make vs Buy analysis, and support the Production team when quality issues arise with components from the supply base. Additionally, the role includes coordinating volume discount and planned productivity discounts with the supply base. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with Purchasing, Accounting, Supply Chain Management departments, and other plant and office personnel.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good computer skills with a working knowledge of automotive experience, technical knowledge and/or experience in the metals industry and technology.
• Understand Good Communication, Negotiation, and Computer Skills in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic college level math
• Basic computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Software
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Must be able to assess reasonableness of the analysis performed.
