About The Position

Castleton Commodities International (CCI) is a leading global energy commodities merchant and infrastructure asset investor. This dynamic two-year rotational program is designed to propel recent graduates into a career of Physical & Financial commodity trading, with a strong focus on risk management and cutting-edge technology. Analysts begin with onboarding training sessions, followed by 6-month rotations, typically starting on a physical trading desk and then moving to a financial trading desk or the Risk team. The program allows for up to four rotations, based on performance, with the possibility of a permanent offer from a desk at any point. After the first financial rotation, analysts are either matched with a third rotation or permanently placed. Throughout the program, participants will engage with company leaders, gain insights into global market strategies, and develop a deep understanding of the commodities landscape. Requirements

  • Strong technical skills
  • Understanding of derivative products
  • Interest in the commodity markets
  • Intermediate analytical and technical skills in one or more of the following: Python, C++, VBA, Excel—as well as SQL or other database exposure
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work as an effective team player and add value to team

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship/exposure to the commodities markets, or experience with other financial institutions or consulting is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Analyze markets to identify trading opportunities, analyzing and understanding risks
  • Design and develop models to analyze economic data, market fundamentals and forecast prices
  • Perform research and statistical studies of identified risk factors
  • Identify market pricing trends and discontinuity
  • Design and formulate trade ideas and execute with rigorous risk management control. Run back-testing to verify the strategy prior to production execution
  • Review research reports and articles that examine recent developments in the energy markets
  • Build up close connection with external consultancies and internal research team
